Height: 50mm (2 inches) approx

A well loved and worn silver or silver rich brass thogchag which would have worn as a personal protective charm.

In Tibetan Buddhism, garudas are intelligent, enormous predatory bird with a wingspan of many kilometres, and who never land. They are sometimes called 'Space Eagles'.

They represent the air element, and are often seen as being protective because they are so large and powerful, and because they are the enemy of nagas, the serpent like spirits of water.

The thogchag has a soft age worn quality to it, but the detail can still be seen quite well. It has a moulded holed lug on the back so it can be suspended on a cord and worn if so desired. A nice, old, traditional protective charm.
