FOUR FACED BRONZE BUDDHA (Item No. Rupa 001)

Height: 320mm (12.5 inches) approx

Width: 205mm (8 inches) approx
Depth: 100mm (4 inches) approx
Price: £235 (including postage in UK) (Postage to places outside of the Uk at cost)

Beautiful, moderately large and heavy, finely detailed, peaceful Tibetan Buddha with four faces holding a dharma wheel. It is possible that this is a form of Amitayus the Buddha of long life, although he would normally be shown holding a long life vase not a dharma wheel. Despite extensive research I have been unable to identify him further.

The statue is in good condition with nice patina, although there is evidence of some minor repair work in its distant past, but the repairs are unobtrusive and completely stable, probably being done over 100 years ago.

A beautiful historic sacred object that would sit well on an altar or it could simply be bought as a beautiful work of art.

Fine tall, standing statue of the Boddhisattva of compassion. The statue is of his thousand armed (although there are only 16) and eleven headed form.

The finely cast statue made of bronze with gold pigment, is in good condition with nice patina, except that one side of the flame behind him has come separated from the main body. This is quite stable and the flame is not in danger of breaking off, but it would be advisable not to pick the statue up by the flame back.

Charming, well cast bronze and gilt (not likely to be real gold) statue of Tara. She is sitting with her legs in an unusual position that's somewhere between the Green and White Tara postures..

TARA - THE PROTECTRESS STATUE (Item No. Rupa 004)

Age: 25 - 10 years approx
Height: 325mm (12.75 inches) approx

Width: 170mm (6.75 inches) approx
Depth: 145mm (5.75 inches) approx
Price: £169 (including postage in UK) (Postage to places outside of the Uk at cost)

Quite large, fairly recently made, bronze and gilt (not likely to be real gilding) statue of the popular Tibetan Goddess Tara acting as a protector. She is sitting on a beast representing negative energy, and by sitting on it she is containing it and stopping it being free to cause harm.

This is a rare form of Tara, statues of her in this protective, suppressing negative energy posture are not common. The statue is nicely cast and quite heavy. The detail is crisp and clear and the dark colour of the bronze is in sharp relief with the brightness of the gilding.

A beautiful sacred object that would sit well on an altar for protection work or it could simply be bought as a beautiful work of art.
